Central Vacuum Cleaners Remove Allergens, Provide Relief for Allergy Sufferers

Seasonal allergy sufferers get extra relief by using cleaner, more powerful central vacuum cleaning systems that take dust and dirt our of the house instead of stirring it up and keeping if re-circulating through the air.

Lewisville, Tex., March __, 2007 – In spring a young man’s thoughts turn to…
runny noses, watery eyes, itchy throats, sneezing, congestion and other classic symptoms of seasonal allergies that flourish in North Texas.

The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is a perennial “leader” on the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s list of the worst places in the United States for allergies. A leading home systems expert says allergy sufferers have several non-medical ways to attack the problem, however, beginning by cleaning up the air in their homes.

Keith Prather, president of Doctor Sound Home Theater, Inc., says central vacuum systems have been proven to reduce allergens in the home by more than 60 percent, while removing all dust, dirt, pollen, dust mites, pet dander and other allergens from surfaces with which they come in contact. He says the rule for central systems is “If you can reach it, you can clean it – thoroughly.”

Because the power units of central vacuum cleaners stay in one place, instead of being lugged from room to room as traditional portable cleaners are, they can have much larger motors. That size gives central units three to five times more cleaning power to remove allergens and dirt.

Equally important, the dirt is removed from the living area of the home through sealed tubing that take it to a remote location in the garage, utility room, attic or basement. Many portable units actually stir up the dust and dirt and keep it re-circulating through the air.

Prather says besides being more powerful, and cleaner, they are quieter because the noise stays in the garage, utility room or basement. Convenience is also a plus. “The only thing a person needs to move with a central vac is the light-weight hose and power brush unit. The power cord is built into the hose, so there’s no cord to trip on or keep rewinding,” Prather said.

Central vacuum systems cost more than the average portable cleaner, but in addition to cleaner better and quieter, the actually are an investment instead of an expense. Central vacuum cleaning systems add $2,000 or more to the value of the average home.

“People know Doctor Sound as home theater and audio system installation experts,” Prather, said. “Dust and dirt are extremely hard on home entertainment systems. When we found ourselves spending more and more time cleaning them for our customers, we saw a need to offer related services, so we now sell, install and service central vacuum systems as a convenience to our customers.”
